Long time, no blog

Well, it has been quite some time since my last post. I always think about updating, but then I don't. I guess I am a lazy blogger. Oh well.

I have completed the first year of my master's. By next year I will have mastered music. Woo! I ended the year with all A's and also achieved an "Outstanding Jury." I really didn't think that my jury was that great, but I am often overly critical of myself when it comes to tromboning.  On another tromboney note, I am a finalist in the Southeastern Trombone Symposium solo competition.  The STS is from June 21-26 and is in Columbus, GA-- my old stompin' ground. It should be a great experience. I can't wait to be back in Columbus at the Schwob and have the opportunity to work with the ASO guys and my old teacher again. First place in the competition gets a new custom S.E. Shires trombone...man oh man I want to get that trombone! Here's a link to the STS website http://music.colstate.edu/trombone/STS_2010.php .

Besides preparing for the competition, I've been working at Elachee. This is my third summer there. It's a pretty great job, and I have an awesome boss, so I am very grateful to work there. Last week we had a sleepover with the middleschoolers....fun? Ehh, I was definitley ready to go home after those two days. I was supposed to be part time this week  because we didn't have enough kids sign up, but my boss ended up letting two counselors go. Read: now everyone will get to work every week. I've been in every day this week, so I'm pretty happy with that. Besides, the girls that she let go needed to go. All they did was talk to each other about their crazy high school days and take the kids to the creek. Anyways, enough on that.

I saw Chris last weekend, which was the first time since his recital. We had a nice time. It was also my parents' 34th wedding anniversary, so Chris and I help my mom set up a surprise dinner at the house on Lanier Drive. Speaking of Lanier Drive, they finally rented the house, which is a big relief. Chris and his mom might be moving back to Cumming, which would mean that I could actually see him some this summer. He's living in Asheville right now, which is why I hardly ever see him. One of these days... Well, that's about it. I'm all on my lonesome right now in a big empty house because my parents are in New Mexico for a conference. I didn't think that I would be scared at all since I live by myself in Iowa, but the house is so big, and I keep hearing noises. Plus, the house has been broken into before, so I keep freaking myself out. I was practicing in the apartment downstairs and decided to let the dogs come in. Garp has never been sweeter. He literally laid down at my feet the whole time I practiced. What a sweety pie. I'm glad that I didn't poke his eye out with my slide!

Adios,
Jessy
